Condensing Biochemistry into Gene Regulatory Networks

چکیده

Gene Regulatory Networks are models of gene regulation. Inferring such model from genome-wide geneexpression measurements is one of the key challenges in modern biology, and a large number of algorithms have been proposed for this task. As there is still much confusion in the current literature as to what precisely Gene Regulatory Networks are, it is important to provide a definition that is as unambiguous as possible. In this paper the author provides such a definition and explain what Gene Regulatory Networks are in terms of the underlying biochemical processes. The author will use a linear approximation to the in general nonlinear kinetics underlying interactions in biochemical systems and show how a biochemical system can be ‘condensed’ into a more compact description, i.e. Gene Regulatory Networks. Important differences between the defined Gene Regulatory Networks and other network models for gene regulation, i.e. Transcriptional Regulatory Networks and Co-Expression Networks, are also discussed. H∞ Sampled-Data Controller Design for Stochastic Genetic Regulatory Networks

Artificially regulating gene expression is an important step in developing new treatment for system-level disease such as cancer. In this paper, we propose a method to regulate gene expression based on sampled-data measurements of gene products concentrations. Inherent noisy behaviour of Gene regulatory networks are modeled with stochastic nonlinear differential equation. To synthesize feed...

Identification and prioritization genes related to Hypercholesterolemia QTLs using gene ontology and protein interaction networks

Gene identification represents the first step to a better understanding of the physiological role of the underlying protein and disease pathways, which in turn serves as a starting point for developing therapeutic interventions. Familial hypercholesterolemia is a hereditary metabolic disorder characterized by high low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels. Hypercholesterolemia is a quantitativ...

How eukaryotic genes are transcribed.

Regulation of eukaryotic gene expression is far more complex than one might have imagined 30 years ago. However, progress towards understanding gene regulatory mechanisms has been rapid and comprehensive, which has made the integration of detailed observations into broadly connected concepts a challenge. This review attempts to integrate the following concepts: (1) a well-defined organization o...
